About Sara

Sara Seidman Vance is an Emmy® nominated, award-winning makeup artist, innovator, and teacher.

Her career in the industry has spanned decades. Her passion for technology led her to be a part of the first ever continuity software for makeup artists long before digital photography took off. Her prosthetics and period work have garnered her praise and acclaim—in addition to prestigious awards and nominations.

In response to COVID-19, Sara became a COVID-19 Compliance Officer/ Supervisor / Consultant.

Still a working makeup artist, Sara has now decided to take her passion for storytelling and teaching and craft it into a platform to empower and educate rising makeup artists. By teaching them how to understand lighting and its influence on makeup, Sara is equipping the next generation of artists with the tools they need to thrive. Sara and this class have been taught for the I.A.T.S.E. locals, and are now listed as a registered trainer in the I.A.T.S.E Training Trust Fund Trainer Database for Lighting for Makeup Artists 101. This includes all of North America.

Sara is twice Emmy® nominated, multiple Award-winning make-up artist who started in the business as a performer and Opera singer. Makeup found her.

Sara has been featured in many prominent magazines for her work in the industry. Sara was interviewed several times for her work on Dawson’s Creek, which she was makeup artist for Katie Holmes during the first three seasons. Sara has been in the Film and Television industry for over thirty years. She is a Journeyman in I.A.T.S.E Local #798. She has been blessed to work with many celebrity talent, as well as, political figures in her career as a makeup artist. Her other awards range from Omni Intermedia, TVIA Peer, International Davey award, The Accolades, the American Pixel Academy – Pixie award, Telly and Aurora Awards for excellence in makeup and makeup effects. Sara has extensive experience with HD make-up for Live Broadcast in addition to her years of experience in Film, Television and Print mediums.

Because of her vast experience with the High Definition Medium and her strong background in lighting, Sara is considered one of the leading industry experts on lighting and makeup. Her teaching is the most comprehensive and focused instruction on lighting principles and its application for HD, 4K and 8K mediums that you will ever find.
